Australia: Trainer Dean Howard has been suspended for 18 months after selling a horse without the consent of the owners and keeping a portion of the sale proceeds for himself.
Howard pleaded guilty at a Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board hearing on Thursday to 'dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent, improper or dishonourable action or practice in connection with racing' over the sale of Group 3-placed
Convincible.
The trainer sold Convincible to Hong Kong without the permission of the owners before informing them of a lower final sale price, keeping the additional funds for himself. His suspension begins on August 21, 2015.
Convincible, a four-year-old colt by leading sire I Am Invincible, had nine starts for two wins and three placings, earning A$84,475 (£40,000) in prize-money.
