Stubbs Art 下場會跑 Sovereign Stakes
STUBBS ART, third behind Henrythenavigator in both the English and Irish 2,000 Guineas, looks set to reappear in the Group 3 Totesport Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury on Thursday.
The David Elsworth-trained colt, sixth on his latest outing in Royal Ascot's St James's Palace Stakes, will be using the £65,000 1m event as a stepping-stone towards an autumn campaign.
Jimmy Lindley, racing manager to owner Matthew Green, said: "The Sovereign Stakes ison the agenda. The decision will rest with David, but it looks like it would be a good race for him to run in.
"He's come out of the St James's Palace Stakes in good form. It was funny ground on that occasion, which was all wrong for him, and David's horses weren't running that well at that time.
"The two Guineas runs were very solid. It was no fluke in either race and he's held his form well. He always runs his heart out in his races."
Lindley added: "This could be his last start over a mile because I think ten furlongs will suit him well in future.
Possible rivals for Stubbs Art on Thursday include Godolphin's Third Set, on a hat-trick after wins at Nad Al Sheba in February, and Roger Charlton's Fifteen Love, successful last time out in the Totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood.
The Green-owned Parisian Art, trained by Jeremy Noseda and the five-length winner of a Newmarket maiden on his debut last month, is poised to step up in class to contest the Tattersalls MillionsAcomb Stakes at York on August 19.
Lindley said: "Jeremy says he has done extremely well since Newmarket and he seems to be strengthening up all the time.
"Jeremy is really happy with him at the moment and said it will take a pretty smart one to beat him in the Acomb."
