Kingsgate Native 退役
KINGSGATE NATIVE, winner of the Nunthorpe Stakes last season and the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, has been retired to take up stallion duties.
The three-year-old had been a 12-1 chance for the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp a week on Sunday but Best said: "I couldn't guarantee he'd be 100 per cent for the Abbaye, sohe won't be running and he's being retired."
"The Abbaye was always going to be his last race but he missed some work because he got very stiff and, while he is fine now, we are just going to run out of time.
"There is no point going to France as,if he disappointed us, we would be kicking ourselves if we let him run.
"There were other horses like Rising Cross who put us on the map, but he put us on the map in a big way.
"Cheveley Park Stud bought him a year ago so that is where he will stand and I'm sure he'll make a great stallion."
