薜恩今星期回歸悉尼戰場

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Blake Shinn's comeback to racing at Rosehill on Saturday is on track after the hoop came through a busy morning riding work at Randwick.

Shinn, Sydney's premier jockey and a stable rider for Gai Waterhouse, broke his wrist in a three-horse fall at Rosehill on December 10 which also left fellow hoops Jeff Lloyd and Peter Robl injured.

Shinn's manager Reece Murphy said his client rode eight horses at Randwick on Tuesday and was spot-on for his return at Rosehill where he has five rides booked.

But at this stage Shinn does not have a ride for Saturday's feature, the Listed Frank Underwood Cup (2000m).

"He wanted to have a good hitout Tuesday and he told me the wrist came through the morning well," Murphy said.

"Blake's done a great job keeping himself fit and is very keen to get back to the races and will be in good shape to do so."

Shinn will also have a busy day at the Randwick barrier trials on Friday when his rides include the $30 million Waterhouse-trained colt Sebring.

"The trials should top his fitness up nicely," Murphy said.

Among Shinn's rides at Rosehill are a pair of two-year-olds for trainer Gary Portelli, Angel Of Hope and Delago Bolt.

Choisir youngster Angel Of Hope will be having her second start when she runs in a fillies race over 1100 metres.

She failed to beat a runner home on debut in the Gimcrack Stakes in October and finished second to Family Matters in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on January 2.

Golden Slipper hopeful Delago Bolt lines up in an 1100-metre colts and geldings race.

The colt is named after the world's fastest man, Beijing Olympic 100-metre gold medallist Usain Bolt, and had too much pace for his rivals in a barrier trial on the Viscoride track at Warwick Farm on January 2.

He finished fifth in his only race start in the Breeders Plate at Randwick in October.

Shinn has two rides for in-form trainer Gerald Ryan - Platinum Ruby in a 1200-metre rating 91 Handicap and Equable in an 1800-metre Handicap.

Platinum Ruby comes into the race after scoring comfortably at Kembla Grange on December 20 over 1000 metres while Equable was fourth to Macknuckle over Saturday's distance at Randwick on New Year's Day.

Murphy said Shinn was also booked to ride El Meroo for Waterhouse after he was given 56.5kg in the 1500-metre Open Handicap.

The Waterhouse camp will also be boosted by the return of stable rider Nash Rawiller after five weeks on the sidelines because of a careless riding suspension.

In the absence of Shinn and Rawiller, Waterhouse's apprentice Daniel Ganderton has charged to fourth on the Sydney's jockeys' premiership with 24 winners.

Murphy, who also manages Ganderton, has been thrilled with the form of the 20-year-old who booted home a winning treble at Rosehill on Saturday.

"He's been making the most of his opportunities and continues to make a name for himself as a very promising rider," Murphy said.
