Sydney filly Samantha Miss confirmed her champion status with a runaway win in the $1 million Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington.

After being given a lovely run in transit by jockey Hugh Bowman, the three-year-old dispelled any doubts about her ability to run out the Oaks distance, with a dominant three-length victory over Miss Scarlatti and Allez Wonder.

“Until they do it you never know but we were pretty confident,” said an elated trainer Kris Lees.
