Angland was Sydney's premier apprentice in 2006-07, just his second season of riding, and third overall in NSW behind Darren Beadman and Zac Purton who are now both based in Hong Kong.

He won his first Group One race aboard Black Piranha in the 2009 Stradbroke Handicap and claimed a second earlier this year on Alverta in the Coolmore Classic.

Angland also rode Alverta to third in the July Cup at Newmarket in England
