TURBO JEWELLERY was withdrawn on 19.5.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MAJESTIC ANTHEM. Before being allowed to race again, TURBO JEWELLERY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, WINNIE’S HORSE was momentarily eased away from the heels of MAJESTIC ANTHEM which shifted in. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, BEAUTY LEAD got its head up when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING ELITE. Near the 1200 Metres, TAKE TO THE LIMIT was left racing wide and without cover and approaching the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward into the lead. At the 1200 Metres, FLYING ELITE was checked and lost ground when momentarily crowded for room inside MAJESTIC ANTHEM (D Whyte) which shifted in. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that D Whyte had immediately corrected his mount, nonetheless he was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is attentive to his mounts shifting ground at all times. Passing the 1200 Metres, FUN RIDER was crowded for room inside WILLIE INVICTUS which, despite the efforts of its rider, got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of TABLEAUX. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken. Near the 1000 Metres, BEAUTY LEAD was momentarily crowded for room inside CHATER DREAM which shifted in marginally when being steadied away from the heels of MAJESTIC ANTHEM which got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNIE’S HORSE. Passing the 1000 Metres, WILLIE INVICTUS got its head up when being checked away from the heels of JOLLY VICTOR which commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out when awkwardly placed behind FORMULA WON which shifted out after being steadied away from the heels of CHATER DREAM. After this, FORMULA WON travelled wide and without cover. Near the 450 Metres, JOLLY VICTOR raced in restricted room between CHATER DREAM which was taken out by BEAUTY LEAD and FORMULA WON which shifted in slightly. In the early part of the Straight, MAJESTIC ANTHEM got its head on the side and hung in under pressure, resulting in its rider changing his whip into his right hand. When questioned, Z Purton stated that after being crowded for room near the 1200 Metres, FLYING ELITE was reluctant to stretch out when racing inside runners. He said at the entrance to the Straight he was able to obtain clear running inside TAKE TO THE LIMIT, however, despite being ridden out, FLYING ELITE was reluctant to improve its position inside that horse despite there being room to do so. He added the manner in which FLYING ELITE failed to close off the race indicated to him that the horse may be better suited by making its finishing run outside of runners. A veterinary inspection of FLYING ELITE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of CHATER DREAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FLYING ELITE, FORMULA WON and TAKE TO THE LIMIT were sent for sampling.
