ASCOT has compensated for the loss of Hungarian speedball Overdose from the royal meeting by luring one-time world leading sprinter Sacred Kingdom.
In what is a coup for the track, connections of the winner of this month's KrisFlyer International Sprint in Singapore have been persuaded to run the horse in the Golden Jubilee Stakes, even though it will cost them a ¢G45,000 supplementary fee.
"It's really good news," said Ascot's PR director Nick Smith on Sunday.
¡§There was a party for Sacred Kingdom last night at which the news was announced that he was definitely coming."
Sacred Kingdom, trained by Ricky Yiu, is likely to be joined by Australian sprint stars Takeover Target and Scenic Blast.
